Against Villa, Loftus-Cheek had five tackles from five challenges (the most common between the two sides) and made five interceptions – more than any other Chelsea player.

  1. He is good but he isn’t as good, his current form suits midtable teams tbh

  2. Kovacic has been struggling, but he has gone under the radar because he is not overly hated like Jorginho, Mount, RLC and Kai.

  3. Mad respek to RLC. His time so far at the bridge has been trial and tribulation but he still stuck it out. Absolute beast mentality he’s got and I’m so glad we have people like this in our team.

  4. Dude literally has that physique of a ‘destroyer’.

I wish he can turn up and fill in that void in the defensive midfield position the team long bereft of.

  5. He’s on a great run of form. He’s been more impactful in the defensive phase, because he’s been a part of 3 man midfields; rarely outnumbered in middle zones, and less space to track runners / passing lanes. Tactically accommodating him with a simpler role and he’s proven himself more than capable.. Adding complexity and extra risk factors is when he has historically been exposed.

  6. I don’t think he’ll ever be a superstar but he’s a fantastic squad/rotational player. That’s not a knock on him because those types of players are extremely important for a club like ours.

  7. One of the worst things about RLC was the fact that he didn’t seem to know what to do off the ball while we had possession. He constantly found himself drifting into occupied zones, ball-watching, and not knowing how to use spaces.

This is the first season where I don’t feel that about him anymore. Seems like his football IQ is finally catching up to his physique.

  8. He was fantastic my only issue with him is he is scared to do forward pass..he always pickup the ball in great place and do side or back pass.

  9. He has actually improved his stamina, work rate and surprisingly his bravery after his injury, which made him contribute a lot more off the ball work and defensively.

Before his injury, he would walk/jog or do half-assed pressing to show sarri that he did his job defensively, but he is actually energetic right now on and off the ball, he uses his body well and doesn’t hesitate to put in sliding tackles.

  10. He’s improving his off the ball work, you love to see it. Just needs to release the ball earlier and make more forward runs and progressive passes

  11. I wouldn’t call it one of his major strengths but he has certainly improved his reading of the game defensively over the last year.

Still gets lost in possession showing for the ball at times but can’t ask for a much better squad player who can fill multiple roles while having an occasional moment of brilliance.
